Welcome to the Norfolk Masonic Website
There were Freemasons in Norfolk prior to 1724, the oldest surviving lodge being Consecrated on 24th June 1736.
The purpose of the site is not only to inform our own members, but hopefully to publicise the UK's largest secular fraternal and charitable organisation. We not only enjoy ourselves but we care for and support our members and their families as well as the communities outside Freemasonry where we meet all over the Country.
We are not secret and the Web Site is an endeavour to demystify much of what we do so that a web-surfer can obtain an idea of the strength of masonry in Norfolk, where we are and what we do.
Freemasonry offers its members an approach to life which seeks to reinforce thoughtfulness for others, kindness in the community, honesty in business, courtesy in society and fairness in all things. Members are urged to regard the interests of the family as paramount but importantly Freemasonry also teaches and practices concern for people, care for the less fortunate and help for those in need.
Although not our principal activity, Charity forms an important part of Freemasonry. Whilst only collecting money at our own functions and not from the public in general, Masonic charities distribute some £5,000,000 nationally each year to non-Masonic causes.
We hope you enjoy viewing these pages and if you need further information, please feel able to make contact with us, we will be delighted to help in any way we can.

Help for Air Ambulances
Donations to the Air Ambulance and rescue services around the county from the Freemasons' Grand Charity totalled £192,000 in 2011 – bringing the full amount donated since 2007 to nearly £1 million. In Norfolk the East Anglian Air Ambulance based at Norwich Airport benefited by £4,000 when the Provincial Grand Master, R.W. Bro. John Rushmer, assisted by his Grandson William, handed over a cheque for £4,000 to EAAA Chief Executive, Tim Page. |
What is the Universities Scheme?Tradition and continuity are two of the values which characterise the relationship between Freemasonry and universities. It was nearly 200 years ago that the first university lodge was founded at Oxford, and since then, it has introduced many thousands of young men to Freemasonry.
Fund Raising in the Norfolk Masonic ProvinceThe Province of Norfolk is now about to be involved in a fund raising campaign aimed at handing over a substantial amount to The Freemasons' Grand Charity in early 2016. The Festival was announced by the Provincial Grand Master and was launched at the end of September 2010. Information on the campaign can be found by clicking on the graphic above.
